Easter comes early at Burns Beach Estate!

Burns Beach Estate residents were treated to an early Easter treat last Saturday 31 March 2012 – including a special visit from the Easter Bunny himself!

Around 250 Burns Beach Estate residents turned out for the outdoor cinema event at Foreshore Park. Children enjoyed chocolate eggs from the Easter Bunny, before cosying up to watch family-friendly movie “Hop”.

Families were also able to use their creative juices at the Easter craft stand, while both young and old were treated to coffee or hot chocolate, ice-cream and popcorn. A delicious sausage sizzle from the Burns Beach Residents Association raised money for the newly-formed Men’s Shed – a community, support network for men.

Soon-to-be local resident Jonathan Cowper, his wife and four children Adam (9), Charlie (7), Sam (4) and Emily (15 months) said the night was a terrific family outing.

“We’ve been to a number of Burns Beach Estate events including the Christmas party and Santa barbeque, and it’s always a great way to meet our future neighbours,” he said.

“It’s the ideal family-friendly evening for our large family!”

The Cowper family are currently building in Burns Beach Estate and are set to be moving into their dream home by November.

“We chose Burns Beach Estate because of the lovely parklands throughout which give the kids a place to run around while we relax. The location of the community is also perfect with schools and other amenities so close by”.

Peet Limited’s Burns Beach Estate has celebrated its 500th buyer – luring a Mullaloo family north to a new style of coastal living!

To mark the occasion, Jon and Jackie Clements, and children Danielle (12), Harry (9) and Georgia (5) were presented with a $5,000 prize package including his and hers hampers packed with vouchers and gifts.

The Clements family wanted to stay close to the ocean but upgrade the Mullaloo property they’ve enjoyed for many years.

“Burns Beach Estate offered us exactly what we were looking for – it’s really close to the beach, and to the Mitchell Freeway,” explained Mr Clements.

The family hopes to start building a large home in the New Year in what is now an established community at Burns Beach Estate – and set to grow.  The 500th settlement was in Stage 7 and, in 2010 and beyond, almost 1,000 more homesites will be sold at the beachfront community.

“The plans for our new home have been drafted and we hope to start construction in March 2010,” said Mr Clements.

Jon and Jackie – originally from the United Kingdom – are planning a four or five bedroom home with plenty of room for the children.  Soccer fan Jon is also sure to make the most of landscaped parks including the $1.8 million Foreshore Park that has become a real community focus over the past two years.

“We just love the feel of Burns Beach Estate – it’s so relaxed, so well laid out and the parks are just great,” he said.

Burns Beach Estate supports Relay for Life

Arena Joondalup will be a hive of activity this weekend as groups of friends, families and colleagues take to the track as part of the 2009 Relay for Life.  Participants will take turns to keep a baton moving in a 24-hour relay style walk or run starting at 3pm on Saturday. 

Relay for Life has raised over $5.5 million in the fight against cancer in Western Australia since 2001. The event provides an ideal opportunity for the community to get together to celebrate survival, honour those lost to cancer and offer hope for a cancer-free future.

Peet teamed up with more than 30 builders to create the website, featuring Western Australia’s largest range of house and land packages.

After setting a budget, preferred home features and selecting a Peet community, tailor-made packages are delivered to the customer online.

Homebuyers can then compare options, adjust their preferences using a sliding scale and view detailed plans to find a dream home that suits their lifestyle.

Peet Limited Managing Director and CEO Brendan Gore said the website would save time, streamline the home selection process and make it easier for homebuyers to find the option that specifically suited them.

Community groups in need of a helping hand can apply now for the Burns Beach Estate Community Sponsorship Program.

The program is open to all volunteer groups, service agencies, clubs, schools and individuals in the local area in need of a boost toward current activities or help to kick-start a new initiative.

Organisations undertaking community projects in the areas of the environment, sport, the arts, youth, leisure and recreation are particularly encouraged to apply.

Between 1 October 2009 and 31 December 2009, the FHOB will be cut by half but first homebuyers could still be eligible for $14,000 toward their new homes.

Student planting supports Burns Beach Estate foreshore

More than 40 students from Currambine Primary School will head outdoors on Thursday (11 September) to take part in a planting day as part of the foreshore rehabilitation program at Peet Limited's Burns Beach Estate.

Under the guidance of consultants from Cardno Environmental Services, the year two to year seven students will plant up to 300 Spinifex seedlings in a large blow-out area adjacent to Foreshore Park. 

Peet Limited Managing Director and CEO Brendan Gore said the revegetation project is designed to encourage young people to get involved in caring for their local environment.

"We're very pleased to be working with Currambine Primary School on this project," said Mr Gore. "It's a great opportunity to take the learning they do about the importance of environmental protection in the classroom and apply it," said Mr Gore.

"Their involvement will help ensure the Burns Beach environment is protected for generations to come."

On the day, the students will learn more about the importance of revegetation and have the opportunity to discuss environmental matters with the expert consultants. 

They will also be given a demonstration on how to plant seedlings before getting into the planting, which will assist in restoring a stable dune system and prevent further erosion to the beachside area.

Currambine Primary School teacher Emma Scott said the students are really looking forward to taking part in the revegetation project at Burns Beach Estate.

"This project is a great learning opportunity for our students. The children who will take part in this project are voluntary members of the school's environmental group," said Ms Scott.

 "They are passionate about protecting the environment and rehabilitating local areas and as a school, we are proud to contribute to improving our local area."

Peet Limited has worked closely with Cardno to control human disturbances to the natural environment by incorporating boardwalks and sand trap fencing to further reduce erosion.

Big crowd for Burns Beach celebration of style on display

A beautiful blue sky provided the perfect backdrop for hundreds of visitors who took the opportunity to join in the opening celebrations at Peet Limited's new 13-home prestige display village at Burns Beach Estate on the weekend (Saturday 26 July).

Guests enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere on offer at Burns Beach Estate and spent the afternoon visiting the new display homes, sampling refreshments, taking in the prestige car display and soaking up the superb sounds of Supper Club Jazz, Peppermint Jazz and Angel sounds.

Burns Beach Estate public artworks add to visual appeal

Peet Limited's beautiful Burns Beach Estate continues to take shape with the recent completion of a series of stunning public artworks adding to its visual appeal.

Talented Western Australian artists Andrew Kay and Coral Lowry were selected from a shortlist of artists, to craft and display their unique vision for the fast-growing community.

Over the past six months they have been working on their pieces and Andrew Kay has just finished putting the final touches on his installations.

Mr Kay, said his works took inspiration from the history of Burns Beach as a place where families would escape from the city to their fishing shacks, to enjoy summer breaks and relax in a makeshift paradise.

His creations for the estate include two bronze cast sculptures – one of seagulls surrounding a bucket of fish, and the second of a dog catching a frisbee in the local park, as well as a steel skeleton of a row boat which will be situated in the dunes with a bronze seahorse adorning the bow.

"The pieces I have created are a small vignette of the history of Burns Beach approached with a sense of humour," said Mr Kay.

"The vision of a dog catching a frisbee represents fun and leisure whilst the seagulls provide the perfect opportunity for kids to explore," he said.

Burns Beach Estate already boasts enormous recreational benefits with boardwalks leading down to the beach, a look-out tower, barbecue facilities and shelters, outdoor showers and vast areas of public open space.
